DynamicSync is operated by FirstAttribute AG.
Hosting is provided by an ISO 27001-certified hyperscaler (Microsoft) with a data center in Frankfurt/Main, Germany. All operations comply with German data protection laws and the highest security standards.
We use Microsoft Azure.

Your data is stored exclusively on servers belonging to our hosting partner in Germany and is protected by regular backups, encryption, and modern security measures.
We adhere to strict access guidelines and only store your data for as long as it is necessary for the use of our services. In accordance with the provisions of the GDPR, the data will be deleted immediately when the service is no longer used.
Security is our top priority:
- Each customer has their own database that is protected from unauthorized access.
- We do not store any data for assigning users to groups. We only have the information required for synchronization or filtering.
- The key management is carried out on the customer’s own Azure app. The customer has the authority to disable the service.
- Access is fully logged and can be traced.
- Authentication is performed via Microsoft Login, optionally also with multi-factor authentication (depending on the customer’s tenant settings).
- We are subject to the GDPR.
- Automatic group synchronization in Entra ID: DynamicSync synchronizes Entra ID groups of different types in M365 or security groups. Additional users can then be added to the target groups using standard MS tools. This means that AD-synchronized security groups, for example, can be used in full in MS Teams. In other words, additional guests can be added to an AD-based M365 group using MS Teams, for example.
- Dynamic filters: With DynamicSync, you can use up to 50 dynamic filters (including nesting) to filter group memberships based on attributes. This goes beyond the capabilities of Microsoft Entra dynamic groups.
- No programming required: Easy management via the user interface.
- High scalability and multi-tenant architecture.
DynamicGroup and DynamicSync are two independent tools with different areas of application:
- DynamicGroup has been on the market for over 15 years and is a very powerful tool for local Active Directory environments. It can map extensive group logic, quickly resolve nested groups, and performs significantly better than script solutions such as PowerShell – regardless of cloud infrastructure.
- DynamicSync is a modern SaaS solution for Entra ID. Its particular advantage is that it can synchronize groups with each other – something that Microsoft itself does not offer. In addition, there are convenient extras such as nested filters for creating dynamic attribute-based groups.
Both solutions therefore have different focuses: DynamicGroup impresses with its range of functions and speed in the on-premises area, while DynamicSync offers clear added value in the cloud by closing gaps in Entra ID / Microsoft 365.
With a combination of DynamicGroup and DynamicSync, dynamic groups in AD can be configured granularly and reused in Entra as M365 groups. DynamicSync then handles the “conversion” of AD-synchronized security groups into M365 groups.
